About the Sophomore Dean

Faculty photo of Susannah Howe
Susannah Howe is the dean of the sophomore class. A faculty member in the engineering program since 2003, Howe coordinates and teaches the capstone design clinic course in which students collaborate in teams on applied engineering design projects sponsored by industry and government.

Howe’s scholarship and engineering practice focus on bridging academia and industry in engineering and technical work. She especially enjoys the opportunity to work closely with students and to stay connected with alumnae. Outside of work, she can be found playing the baritone saxophone in a jazz big band, running with her dog on local trails, and planning the next family project or trip with her husband and their two teenagers.
