FYS 146 Contemporary Theatre and Film in China.
Students will spend three weeks at Beijing University rehearsing and performing a
show incorporating Chinese theatre traditions of popular performance, storytelling,
puppetry and shadow plays. Prerequisite: FYS xxx, Contemporary Theatre and Film in
China. Professors Nan Zhang and Ellen W. Kaplan. Offered May 2010.

GEO 270j Carbonate Systems and Coral Reefs of
the Bahamas. A field-oriented course to examine the diverse carbonate
sediment-producing, modern environments typical of the Bahama Islands. Prerequisite:
completion of an introductory-level geology course and permission of the instructor.

PHI 253j Indo-Tibetan Buddhist Philosophy and
Hermeneutics. As part of an ongoing academic exchange program with the
Tibetan universities in exile in India, 15 students from the Five Colleges spend
January term studying Buddhist philosophy, Tibetan history and culture, and Tibetan
textual analysis at the Central Institute of Higher Tibetan Studies in Sarnath,
India. (3 credits) Professor Jay Garfield. Offered January 2010.
