ATTENDING COLLEGE IN THE UNITED STATES

Although “college” may mean a secondary school in your country, in America colleges are smaller, more personal versions of universities. And as a women’s college, Smith gives female students all the encouragement, attention, resources and leadership roles. No coeducational school can do the same. Women’s colleges offer all subjects, including those in traditionally male fields, for female students to explore.

Unlike most universities outside the United States, Smith encourages you to explore many fields of knowledge before specializing in one. And you can design your own course, minor (five or six courses) or major (12 to 14 courses). Our department of government (political science) attracts many international students; economics, biology, engineering, psychology and computer science are also very popular.
