Smith College policy requires all offices
and departments to use the standard stationery formats available from the purchasing
office. The office or department name, location, telephone and fax numbers
are generally included. If there is a format question about your specific needs,
please contact the Office of College Relations.
The approved paper stock for college stationery
is Hammermill Bond, 24 lb. white. The typeface used for the
address and other information is ITC Garamond; the office or department name
is set in Garamond Book, and the rest of the information is set in Garamond
Light. Neither should be set in boldface. The correct size is 9 point type
on 10 point leading.
A typing
guide and a form showing the layout
of the stationery are available in portable document format. You will
need a PDF application
to view and print
these files. Adobe Acrobat allows you to view, navigate and print PDF files
across all major computing platforms; the application is available free of
charge from the Adobe
Web site. Users who wish to view PDF files from within
their Web browsers must have the PDF viewer plug-in for your browser in the
plug-ins folder.
Business cards are printed on Hammermill Bond, 80 lb. white
cover. They contain the college logo and wordmark and your name, title, department,
campus address and phone. Business cards have been formatted to allow for
fax numbers and e-mail addresses as well.
The typeface used for the name and other information
is ITC Garamond; the name of the individual is set in Garamond Book, and
the rest of the information is set in Garamond Light. Neither should be set
in
boldface. The correct size for the name and title is 9 point type on 10 point
leading; the correct size for the remainder of the information is 8 point
type on 8 point leading.
A full block style (all lines flush left, with
a ragged right margin) is the approved text format for college correspondence.
Begin your
letter 2.5 inches
from the top of the page, to line up with the yellow line provided in the
left margin. The left margin of your letter should line up with the "S" in
the Smith College wordmark, or 1.5 inches from the left edge of the page. For
best appearance, allow one inch margins at the right edge and the bottom of
the page. |
