PLEASE REMEMBER! You are responsible for all network activity that comes from any device you connect to the Smith network. All devices must comply with Smith's policy on the Acceptable Use of Computer Resources.  Misuse can result in disciplinary action and possible loss of network access privileges.

If you have questions about connecting a type of wireless device that is not discussed below, please call the User Support Center at x4487.

Q. I have a wireless printer. Can I use it to print wirelessly on the smith network?

A. Unfortunately, the wireless network at Smith is different from a home wireless network and cannot accommodate personal wireless printing, including Apple's AirPrint. You will need to connect your printer directly to your computer via a USB or similar cable.

Q. I want to use my Apple TV or Roku product on campus. Is this possible?

A. You can connect your Apple TV, Roku, or similar device on the Smith network, but you must first register it on the RegisteredDevices network. For instructions, click here.

Note that you will be unable to use AirPlay or similar home WiFi-based services to control the device or play remote content.

Q. Can I use my own wireless router at Smith?

A. No. Setting up a personal wireless network at Smith is not allowed; it is a violation of Smith's Wireless Network Policy.

Q. Am I allowed to use my WiFi-enabled smartphone or tablet device on the Smith network?

A. Absolutely. Click here for instructions for getting your Apple/Android device connected to the Smith network.

Q. I have an Xbox/Playstation I want to use on the network. Will I be able to?

A. You can use most gaming consoles on the Smith network, but you must first register your device on the RegisteredDevices network. For instructions, click here.
