IDENTITY FINDER

The Identity Finder software system helps prevent identity theft by finding unsecured private, confidential, or sensitive data on local or network drives, and providing methods to protect that data before it can be stolen.

Before you begin, please note the following Identity Finder limitations:

Identity Finder does not run on:
- Power PC Macs
- Macs running any version of OS X lower than 10.4
On all computers, Identity Finder cannot search:
- Encrypted files
- FileMaker Pro databases
- Text or numbers scanned as an image (i.e., scanned without optical character recognition)
In addition, on Windows computers, Identity Finder cannot search:
- Word 97 documents
In addition, on Macintosh computers, Identity Finder cannot search:
- Any directory containing any files without a file extension (e.g., .doc, .html, .xls, .pdf, etc.)
- Files created in OS 9.x

If you have any files that Identity Finder cannot search, but you believe those files may contain legally-protected PI (Personal Information) data, please scan those files visually.
