TROUBLESHOOTING PDF PROBLEMS

If you have trouble opening a PDF file posted on a Moodle page, it's almost always a problem with the Adobe Reader plugin. Adobe Reader can easily get "out of synch" with your browser and stop opening PDFs within the browser.

Installing the latest version of Adobe Reader almost always solves the problem, even if it seems like you just installed it.

That's because any new updates to your system (including Java, QuickTime, browser, and even Windows updates) that happened after you last installed Adobe Reader can upset the delicate balance and cause the problem to occur again.

Install Adobe ReaderClick on the button at left to try re-installing Adobe Reader and see if that solves the problem.

If it doesn't, try switching to a different web browser. We recommend Mozilla Firefox, which can be downloaded here.

If you still can't open the PDF file, call the User Support Center at 585-4487 or send email to 4its@smith.edu.
