UPGRADING YOUR FCAP MAC to OS X 10.5 LEOPARD

This document explains the upgrade procedue for Staff and Faculty computers to Mac to OS X 10.5 Leopard.

Please note: FCAP upgrades to OS X Leopard are by request only. Please contact the User Support Center, x4487 (Staff & Faculty approved to upgrade to Leopard can borrow external hard drives.)

FCAP Macs with an Intel Processor are eligible for Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard. Macs that are eligible for upgrade can be re-imaged with the latest FCAP computer environment, including Office 2008 and all Smith Keyserved software, by the technical services staff.

If you use non-Smith software, please check to be sure that your software is compatible with Leopard.

The re-imaging process is very similar to preparing to receive a new computer. ITS recommends that you backup your data to an external hard drive using iBackup and then use iBackup to restore your data to your Mac after it has been re-imaged.

For instructions on how to backup and restore your data using iBackup, review the Preparing to Recieve a New Computer document.
