Upgrading an FCAP MAC From Leopard To Snow Leopard - Manual listing
This document contains a list of folders and data to be manually backed up prior to re-imaging a machine with OS X Snow Leopard. For a more complete back up, use Time Machine or Carbon Copy Cloner to create a bootable back up image of the hard drive. After the upgrade has been completed, you can use these images to restore data.
The following items should backed up:
/Users/Username/Desktop/
/Users/Username/Documents/
/Users/Username/Downloads
/Users/Username/Dropbox/ (optional)
/Users/Username/Movies/
/Users/Username/Music/
/Users/Username/Pictures/
/Users/Username/Public/ (probably empty)
/Users/Username/Library/Application Support/ (special;/custom/personal/Apps)
/Users/Username/Library/Mail
/Users/Username/Library/Mail Downloads (optional)
/Users/Username/Library/Safari
/Users/Username/Library/Preferences/com.apple.mail.plist
/Users/Username/Library/Preferences/others?
/Users/Username/Library/others?
To backup iCal:
Open iCal
Select Export from the File menu and choose iCal Archive
Save the archive to a network drive
To backup Address Book:
Open Address Book
Select Export from the File menu and choose Address Book Archive
Save the archive to a network drive
To save Bookmarks in Firefox:
Select Organize Bookmarks from the Bookmarks menu
Click on the Star menu and select Export html...
Export the html file to a network drive
To save Bookmarks from Safari:
Select Export Bookmarks from the file menu
Save the exported bookmarks to a network drive
To save sites in Dreamweaver:
Open Dreamweaver and select Manage Sites
Select a site and click Export
Click Back up my settings and then click OK
Name your site and then save to a backup location
