BACKING UP AND RESTORING PERSONAL ADDRESS BOOKS
Your Groupwise personal address books are stored on a GroupWise server, making it easy for
you to access your personal contacts from any networked computer. However, the GroupWise
servers are not backed up routinely, so backing up your personal address books can help prevent
disaster if your address book files are ever accidentally corrupted, overwritten, or deleted.
Once you've backed up your personal address books, it takes just a few moments to restore
them if it ever becomes necessary, compared to the hours you might need to recreate your
contact information from scratch.

Backing up a Personal Address Book
Follow the steps below to back up your personal address books to your hard drive (C:) or network drive (H:). To maintain a completely up-to-date backup, repeat this procedure each time you edit one of your personal address books.
- In Groupwise, open the Address Book by selecting Tools, then Address Book,
or click on the Address Book icon on the toolbar.
- Click on the tab for the address book you would like to back up. To back up several address
books, you will have to repeat steps 2-5 for each one.
(Note that you should not back up the Novell GroupWise Address Book since it is automatically regenerated from system databases.)
- Open the File menu and select Export.
- When prompted to export either the entire address book or just the selected items, choose Entire
Address Book.
- In the Address Book Export window, browse to the folder where you would like to
save the address book.
- In the File Name field, enter a name for the address book backup
copy, ending with a ".nab" file
extension (for Novell Address Book).
Example: frequent-contacts.nab
- Click Save to save the file.
