TWO-WEEK MIGRATION PROCESS
For each department, the migration process from GroupWise to Smith Mail & Calendar will span two weeks:
Week One—Preparation
- Monday: Users will receive an email message asking them to perform several preliminary steps before their account is migrated, inviting them to attend a Smith Mail & Calendar preview sessions on Thursday, and telling them how to sign up for hands-on classes.
- Wednesday & Thursday: Users can attend an afternoon Smith Mail & Calendar Preview session in Stoddard Auditorium.
- Friday: Users will receive login instructions for their new account.
Over the Weekend—Migration in progress
ITS will copy each user's GroupWise email and calendar data into their new Smith Mail & Calendar account.
Users can log in to their Smith Mail account over the weekend to read and reply to messages if they wish, but should not make any other changes until Monday.
Week Two—Migration complete
Migration Monday: Users will begin using Smith Mail & Calendar instead of GroupWise. ITS will provide on-site support as needed. Hands-on classes for new users begin Monday afternoon.
Tuesday & Wednesday: Additional hands-on classes for new users.
Thursday & Friday: Hands-on classes on advanced topics. Limited to users who have been using Smith Mail & Calendar for at least one week.
