COGNOS REPORTNET TIPS AND TRICKS
REMOVE THE ORANGE ASTERISK AND ARROW FROM A PROMPT 1. When you create a new prompt, you may see an orange asterisk, arrow and dotted line.
2. The asterisk next to each prompt means it is required. The arrow means you must select or type a value. If you type an incorrect value, a dotted line appears (it also appears before you select a value). You can choose whether to show the asterisk and arrow for each prompt. However, the dotted line (and prompt name) can only be removed via javascript. 3. To remove the arrow and dotted line, go to the page that contains the prompt. Select the prompt control by clicking on it.
4. In the Properties pane, click the Hide Adornments property and click Yes to hide the prompt characters.
5. When you run the report, the asterisk and arrow are hidden. However, the dotted line is present. As mentioned earlier, this must be removed (as well as the prompt name) through javascript.
