CHANGING YOUR BANNERWEB PIN
| Use Single Sign-on and the Smith Portal to access BannerWeb. Did you know you can access BannerWeb (and a host of other web-based services) through the Smith Portal? Here's how: 1. Go to portal.smith.edu and enter your network username and password. 2. Faculty: Click on the My Info or Teaching & Advising tab. Staff: Click on the My Info tab. Students: Click on the My Student Info tab. 3. Click on a task of interest (Registration, Class Lists, Timesheet Entry, Leave Report Entry, etc.) to go directly to the selected task in BannerWeb. |
The first time you log in to BannerWeb, you will be required to follow the procedure below:
- On the BannerWeb login page, log in using your current PIN.
- When the Login Verification Change PIN page appears, re-enter your old PIN, then enter a new PIN. Note that your new PIN must:
- Contain 8 to 15 characters.
- Contain any combination of letters and numbers, but must include at least one letter and one number. Note that special characters, such as # or $, are also allowed.
- Remember that PINs are case-sensitve. If you use any upper-case letters when you create your new PIN, you must always enter those letters in upper case.
Example: abx773yq is different from Abx773Yq
- You cannot use a PIN you have used before.
- Contain 8 to 15 characters.
- Enter your new PIN again, then click on the Login button.
- If the system allows you to proceed, you have successfully reset your PIN.
- If you see any error messages, try again with a different PIN.
- If you are unable to reset your PIN, bring your Smith ID card to the User Support Center, Human Resources, or Registrar’s office. You will be given a one-time-use PIN that follows the PIN-creation rules outlined above.
- If the system allows you to proceed, you have successfully reset your PIN.
- Next you will be asked to select two security questions from a list of 15 possible choices, and enter your answers to those questions.
Remember that the system is case-sensitive, so if you enter your childhood nickname as "Peanut", you must enter it exactly that way in the future - "peanut" will not work.
- After you confirm your Emergency Contact information, you will be able to access your BannerWeb account as usual.

- Enter your Smith ID number.
- Click on the Forgot PIN? button.
- Answer your two security questions correctly.
