CHANGING YOUR BANNERWEB PIN

The first time you log in to BannerWeb, you will be required to follow the procedure below:

  1. On the BannerWeb login page, log in using your current PIN.

  2. When the Login Verification Change PIN page appears, re-enter your old PIN, then enter a new PIN. Note that your new PIN must:

    1. Contain 8 to 15 characters.

    2. Contain any combination of letters and numbers, but must include at least one letter and one number. Note that special characters, such as # or $, are also allowed.

    3. Remember that PINs are case-sensitve. If you use any upper-case letters when you create your new PIN, you must always enter those letters in upper case.

Example: abx773yq is different from Abx773Yq

    4. You cannot use a PIN you have used before.

  3. Enter your new PIN again, then click on the Login button.

    1. If the system allows you to proceed, you have successfully reset your PIN.

    2. If you see any error messages, try again with a different PIN.

    3. If you are unable to reset your PIN, bring your Smith ID card to the User Support Center, Human Resources, or Registrar’s office. You will be given a one-time-use PIN that follows the PIN-creation rules outlined above.

  4. Next you will be asked to select two security questions from a list of 15 possible choices, and enter your answers to those questions.

Remember that the system is case-sensitive, so if you enter your childhood nickname as "Peanut", you must enter it exactly that way in the future - "peanut" will not work.

  5. After you confirm your Emergency Contact information, you will be able to access your BannerWeb account as usual.

Future PIN Resets

Once you have completed the procedure above, when your PIN expires, you will be able to reset it yourself following the procedure below:

  1. Go to the BannerWeb login page.

  2. Enter your Smith ID number.

  3. Click on the Forgot PIN? button.

  4. Answer your two security questions correctly.

  5. Choose a new PIN following the guidelines above.

If you have any questions about resetting your BannerWeb PIN, please call the User Support Center at 413-585-4487.
