Welcome to TARA, the Smith College Technology And Resource Adviser. TARA is an on-line collection of software instructions, user guides, and tip sheets created by ITS staff for the Smith community.

BannerWeb Problems? Only the browser versions listed below can access all BannerWeb features. To download one of these versions, click on its link.   Windows: Mozilla Firefox 3.6 or lower Internet Explorer 6.x, 7.x or 8.x Mac: Mozilla Firefox 3.6 or lower Safari 3.0+ Windows 7 users: If you installed IE9 and want to return to IE8, go to Control Panel/Programs & Features/View installed updates and uninstall IE9. Windows will automatically revert to IE8. Important: BannerWeb is NOT currently compatible with Mozilla Firefox 4.x or higher, Internet Explorer 9.x, or Google Chrome. 	Repair service and toner for Smith printers are provided by CBS (Connecticut Business Systems). For instructions on requesting printer repairs, ordering toner, or recycling toner cartridges, click here.
	Password news for Sophia users. If you have an account on the Sophia web server, note that you should start using your regular Novell/GroupWise password to log on. Your old Sophia password will continue to work for the time being, but will eventually be disabled.
	Multi-Function Devices: Smith staff and faculty, before you can print using an MFD, follow these instructions to install the required printer drivers on your computer. If you have questions or problems with your MFD, click here.

	Free software!  Don't forget that McAfee VirusScan, the GroupWise desktop client, and many other applications and plug-ins are available free to the Smith community on the software download site: http://www.smith.edu/smithsoftware
	Students:  Be sure to save a copy of all your important files on your network (H:) drive.  That way you'll always have a backup if anything happens to your computer or storage media. Click here to learn how to transfer files to and from your network drive.
