allyAlly Einbinder ’10 is an SWG student liaison with a concentration in queer studies. This year, she is the president of VOX: Voices for Choice, the reproductive justice organization at Smith. She is also involved in several student activist organizations on campus including Students for Social Justice and Institutional Change and Smith Association of Class Activists. In addition to her SWG major, she is attempting to fulfill a minor in Psychology, and is currently working as a research assistant for a project examining the development of children’s artistic styles. Ally spent the Fall of this year in the SIT Program in Amsterdam.

dongyoung kimDongyoung Kim is a '10 SWG student liaison with a concentration in Women, Race, and Culture. She is interested in gender’s relation to migration and citizenship and has been working with migrants’ and refugee communities in Korea. Since last summer, she has been filming queer Filipino and Filipina migrants in South Korea, questioning how sexuality shapes migratory movements and subjectivities. Since coming to Smith, she has also become interested in colonial literature and postcolonial studies in the context of Japanese empire. Recently, she has been practicing meditation and is really excited to share her experience about it!

katy morrisKaty Morris ‘11 is a SWG major and program liaison. She hasn’t decided on a concentration yet. She is from Sheridan, Wyoming. At Smith she is also studying Spanish and is planning on going abroad next year, possibly to Mexico. She spent a semester abroad in France her junior year of high school. She is interested in social activism, music, and travel, and loves reading and going for coffee with her friends. In high school she interned at her local women’s shelter, and hopes to do so again next summer. She lives in Scales house and has played flute in both the wind ensemble and orchestra at Smith, though she is not involved in them this year. She loves all of her SWG classes, which this semester include Queer Theory/Queer Culture and American Women Poets, and goes to the Queer Film series every Thursday.
