I mostly teach cultural studies and theory. In Spring 2007, I am teaching a course on death and dying in Black culture that will consider gender significantly.

My book Black Women, Identity and Cultural Theory: (Un)Becoming the Subject (Rutgers 2004) is an exploration of Black women's influence on poststructuralism. My new work explores what quiet could mean to how we think about Black culture.
