2015 Program Schedule

During their month-long stay on campus, SSEP participants choose two two-week research courses. See the 2014 course selection to get an idea of how the program works. You can also see the 2014 program schedule below. The details for 2015 will be available soon.

Typical Weekday

Students eat breakfast from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m., go to class for two to three hours of investigation, break for lunch at noon and then return to their research for two to three hours in the afternoon. On average, participants spend 120 contact hours working with faculty.

Weekends and Free Time

In their free time, students can use all of the campus facilities (sports and fitness, museums, libraries, gardens), and the SSEP staff plans on-campus activities (movies, games, crafts, a talent show) and an occasional field trip (music, theater, entertainment and recreation) for afternoons, evenings and weekends. There is always an organized activity to join—or you can spend time on your own with friends from the program.

Presentations

All SSEP participants give two oral presentations of their work, one at the midpoint of the program and a second at the conclusion of the program.

Parents and family members attend the students' final presentations. Afterwards, the program concludes with a lunch for families, students and faculty members.
