Typical Weekday
Students eat breakfast from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m., go to class for two to three hours of investigation, break for lunch at noon and then return to their research for two to three hours in the afternoon. On average, participants spend 120 contact hours working with faculty.
Weekends and Free Time
In their free time, students can use all of the campus facilities (sports and fitness, museums, libraries, gardens), and the SSEP staff plans on-campus activities (movies, games, crafts, a talent show) and an occasional field trip (music, theater, entertainment and recreation) for afternoons, evenings and weekends. There is always an organized activity to join—or you can spend time on your own with friends from the program.
Presentations
All SSEP participants give two oral presentations of their work, one at the midpoint of the program (Friday and Saturday, July 12 and 13) and a second at the conclusion of the program (Friday and Saturday, July 26 and 27).
Parents and family members attend the students' final presentations. Afterwards, the program concludes with a lunch for families, students and faculty members.
