The Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies

(Institut de hautes études internationales et du développement-IHEID)

The Graduate Institute is an institution of research and graduate education dedicated to the study of world affairs. Through intense engagement with international organizations, NGO's, governments and multinational companies, the Institute participates in global discussions and prepares future policy-makers to lead tomorrow's world. It is considered one of Europe's most prestigious higher education institutions, attracting students from all over the world (more than 70% are international students). The official languages of its unique cosmopolitan community are French and English. IHEID's faculty includes over fifty professors of diverse nationalities, academic backgrounds, and scientific perspectives. IHEID is currently building an ambitious project, the Campus de la paix (Campus of Peace), a brand new state-of-the-art campus that will extend from the United Nations headquarters to the shores of Lake Geneva

The Smith in Geneva program is the only undergraduate program whose students are admitted to study at the Graduate Institute.

Students in either Track A or Track B with a minimum 3.5 GPA are eligible to take courses at the Graduate Institute on a space-available basis.
