All applications must include the following:
• Application Form
• A one page statement outlining proposed activity, how you meet eligibility and funding criteria, why you are seeking funding and any previous international experiences
• A pamplet or website description of the program/project
• Resume
• Letter of support from a faculty member who is familiar with the proposed program/project
• Financial Aid statement from Banner
• Budget Worksheet
• Smith College Institutional Review Board approval (if applicable)
Note: Since students must be in good academic standing in order to receive a grant, student academic records will be reviewed.
Complete the application form, then print, sign and turn it in to the Office for International Study (Global Studies Center, Wright Hall) with the additional documentation outlined above. Only students applying from abroad may submit forms via email to studyabroad@smith.edu.
• October 15 for J-term
• March 15 for Summer
• Students applying for an IEG should also request funding from Smith Student Aid Society through the Class Deans Office, College Hall.
• Human subject research (projects which involve interviewing people) must be approved by the Smith College Institutional Review Board (IRB). A copy of the approval page must be submitted with the IEG application.
