International Experience Grants

The Office for International Study oversees disbursment of a number of funds and grants to assist students with international experiences during the summer or January term. Click on the name of each grant for information and application instructions.

International Experience Grants: For study, research, internships or volunteer project during the summer or January term.

Smith Freeman Grants: For students of Japanese, Chinese or Korean to pursue language study, language and culture study, or thesis research during the summer.

Blumberg Traveling Fellowships: For Smith students studying on a Smith JYA program (Florence, Geneva, Hamburg, Paris) to extend their time abroad and pursue a research project in Europe.

Class of 1983 Developing World Fund: For students studying abroad who are interested in serving the poor and engaging in social justice issues in the developing world. Allows them to participate in a service projecct in the developing world in the summer following their spring semester abroad.

Other Funds
Syliva Berger '24 Fund is for summer projects in Israel.

None of the above funds can be used for travel to a country with a US Department of State Travel Warning in place, or for travel to a student's home country, or for activites taking place after a student has completed her Smith degree requirements.
