International Study Grants

International Study Grants provide partial funding ranging from $500-$2000 toward the cost of international experiences.

ELIGIBILITY

All Smith students are eligible to apply, but those who have received funding must wait two years before applying for a second grant. ISG awards may not be used for costs associated with semester and year study abroad. The grant may not be used in the summer following graduation.

FUNDING CRITERIA
International Study Grants are awarded for study, research, service and unpaid internships abroad. Priority for funding goes to:

  • students going abroad for the first time
  • students with high financial need
  • projects that last 3 weeks during J-Term, and six to eight weeks during the summer
  • language study
  • projects related to the student's major
  • projects for which the student demonstrates a strong background and preparation

Strong faculty recommendations are an important component of a compelling application.

Grant decisions are made on a rolling basis before October 15 and March 15.
