Beginning in the 2010-11 academic year, students may chose from three program tracks in Geneva:
Track A: Geneva International Internship Semester
Track B: University Studies in English or French
Track C: Advanced Program in International Studies
and Development
Students in all tracks are expected to study French or take a course taught in French each semester.
Eligibility: 3.0 GPA, no French required
Term: Fall or Spring
Credit: 16 credits
Students admitted to this track intern in an international organization 3-4 days per week, and take the following courses:
• Intensive French language course during orientation
• History of International Organizations and Cooperation
• One university course, in French or English
• French language or Topics in French, depending on language ability
Eligibility: 3.0 GPA, 1-2 years of college-level French
Term: Fall, Spring, or Academic Year
Credit: 16 credits each semester, plus 2 credits for orientation
Students admitted to this track enroll in 4-5 courses each semester, as explained below, and may chose to intern in an international organization 1-2 days per week.
• Two to three university courses in French or English, depending on language ability
• One or two Smith Center courses, including French language
(if all other courses are taught in English), History of
International Organizations and Cooperation, and/or
Practicum in International Organizations (spring course option for academic year students only)
Eligibility: 3.5 GPA, 1-2 years of college-level French
Term: Fall, Spring, or Academic Year
Credit: 16 credits each semester, plus 2 credits for orientation
Students admitted to this track enroll in 4-5 courses each semester as explained below, and may chose to intern in an international organization 1-2 days per week.
• Two graduate-level courses at Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies, in French or English
• One to three university courses, in French or English
• French language at Smith Center, if all other courses are taught in English
