A useful resource for evaluating British universities is the Research Assessment Exercise, which rates research at academic departments throughout the U.K. according to a number of criteria.
Most British universities are on a three-term system that does not correspond to the American semester system: students can go either for the full year or for the two terms running from January to June. Because the fall term at a three term insitution is significantly shorter than Smith’s fall semester, fall enrollment is approved only at the institutions indicated.
Smith requires students to submit their applications directly to schools in the U.K. and the Republic of Ireland by no later than April 1st, unless otherwise indicated.
