Student Government

Smith is a community where students largely govern their own campus life. For example, your home at Smith will be one of 35 houses, where you’ll live with 10 to 100 students from all four undergraduate classes. And you'll have the right and responsibility to participate in running your residential house.

Each house offers a variety of ways for you to get involved and participate in house council activities, under the umbrella of the Student Government Association (SGA). The SGA oversees student organizations, the academic interests and the nonacademic life of students. Every student is a member of the SGA, which is responsible for taking up campus issues and responding to student concerns.

The SGA also acts as a liaison for students and organizations to the college's administration and the board of trustees, and allocates money to organizations and students for activities.
