Patty Kimura called the meeting to order at 1:10 p.m. Serena Harris
had previously distributed orientation packets to all members.
1. WELCOME AND INTRODUCTION
In her last meeting as Chair, Patty Kimura, welcomed the new members
of Staff Council encouraging them to see themselves as leaders and
active partners in the college community.
2. INTRODUCTIONS
Staff Council members were introduced to each other by means of
playing a name game. Patty also did a who's who game that resulted
in prizes for everyone.
3. COUNCIL CHRONICLE
Navae Homstead and Sabrina Marsh were present as the co-editors
of the Council Chronicle.
4. NOMINATIONS AND ELECTIONS:
Elections were held and the new officers are:
Chair: Merrilyn Lewis
Vice-Chair: Kimberly Allen
Treasurer: Chris Carr Hill
Co-Secretaries: Nancy Brady and Marti Hobbes
5. REVIEW MINUTES:
Patricia Swan made a motion to approve the May minutes and Serena
seconded the motion. The May minutes were approved.
6. COMMITTEES:
Each Committee Chair spoke about the mission of their committees,
and then moved to different corners of the room. Members talked
to the respective chair of the committee they were interested in
joining. If you have not yet chosen a committee, please contact
one of the following chairs for further information and meeting
dates:

7. Farewell to outgoing staff council members:
Merrilyn Lewis presented all outgoing members with a certificate
of appreciation. Merrilyn thanked Patty Kimura, the outgoing Chair,
for her years of dedication and vision, and presented her with a
framed picture and note of appreciation. Everyone enjoyed a farewell
cake that listed the outgoing members' names.
The regular Staff Council meetings will take place on the first
Wednesday of each month, from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. in the MMD Conference
Room. However, the July meeting is set for Wednesday, July 9, 2003
from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m.
The Staff Council meeting adjourned at 3:00 p.m.
