The September monthly meeting of Staff Council was held on Wednesday, September 11, 2002 at 2:00pm. Staff Council members and guests gathered on the first floor of Neilson Library to observe the "Cut From the Same Cloth" quilt and reflect on the anniversary of September 11. Patty Kimura began with a few words of reflection followed by a moment of silence. The Council moved into the Kahn Institute Colloquium Room for the regular monthly meeting at 2:15pm.
Attending: Kim Allen, Stacey Anasazi, Cyndee Button, Chris Carr Hill, Serena Harris, Susan Hollingsworth, Patty Kimura, Anne-Marie LaFosse, Karen LeHouiller, Merrilyn Lewis, Laura Matta, Janice McDowell, Dianne Mikucki, Steve Monteiro, Janine Nye, Laura Rauscher, Sam Rush, Patricia Swan, Michael Washut, and Tara Zidonik.
Excused: Cristen Abrams, Lakisha Coppedge, Connie Dragon, Gary Duffy, Alicia Guidotti, Ann Mayo, and Angela Musiak.
Patty Kimura called the meeting to order at 2:20 p.m.

REFLECTION ON THE EVENTS OF SEPTEMBER 11, 2001
Patty Kimura
welcomed members of staff council and guests. Members
of staff council
read responses to questions concerning feelings of community
and how it
was affected by the events of September 11, 2001 from the journal
that
was placed in Neilson Library by Staff Council. This was followed
by
personal reflections and responses to the events of September 11th by
members of staff council. Chris Carr Hill passed out a revised Staff
Council
Roster.
2. ANNOUNCEMENTS
Activities Committee: The Activities Committee needs volunteers to be building representatives for Denim Day on October 4th. Denim Day raises funds for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. Contact Anne Marie LaFosse if you or someone you know is interested.
Communications Committee: Sam Rush announced that Monique Spyke would be the Staff Council Intern that will work with the Activities and Communications committees. She is web savvy and the committee is pleased to have her on board.
Lunch and Learn Series: The President's Residence Gardener, Tracey Putnam will talk about "Putting the Garden Bed to Rest and Planting Bulbs" on September 24, 2002, from 12-1 p.m. in the Horticulture Classroom in the Lyman Plant House.
Future Meeting dates for Staff Council:
Wednesday, October 2, 2002 to be held in the Board Room, Alumnae House.
Wednesday, November 6, 2002
Wednesday, December 4, 2002
All meetings will be held at the Mary Maples Dunn Conference Room, Pierce Hall (unless stipulated otherwise) from 2:15-3:30 p.m.
3. REVIEW MINUTES
The
minutes of the August 7, 2002 meeting were approved.
The Staff Council meeting adjourned at 3:30 p.m.
