Meeting Minutes

Present: Jack Begleiter, Cyndee Button, Sandy Bycenski, Carla Coffey, Honey Gillman,
Serena Harris, Patty Hayes, Chris Carr Hill, Patty Kimura, Mimi Lempart, Michelle Moye, Janice McDowell, Sam Rush, Bill Sheehan, Joe Stoddart

Since this was the first meeting for the newly elected members, the meeting started by everyone introducing themselves. Members who were present for their last meeting as their term has expired were Mary Martineau, Michelle Finley and Chrissie Bell.
Bill Sheehan reviewed the mission statement of the council. Next we held an election of officers. This year the officers will be:
Patty Kimura Chair
Sam Rush Vice-Chair/Parliamentarian
Chris Carr Hill Co-Secretary
Cyndee Button Co-Secretary
Bill Sheehan Treasurer
We next proceeded to each member choosing a standing committee. The chairs of Nominations and Elections, Communications, Personnel Policy, and Activities committees each gave an explanation of their committee responsibilities. Everyone decided which committee they wanted to be on, and each committee is to meet before the next Staff Council meeting, which is set for Tuesday, July 17th at 2:00 p.m. in the MMD Conference Room. One agenda item for this meeting will be to continue the discussion about further diversity training.
Patty Hayes spoke about the Council Chronicle. She mentioned that she and Eric Weld would continue to function as co-editors for the next year, and Patty will continue to be the designer as well. Three issues (instead of the former four issues) will be produced per year (fall, winter and spring). She mentioned that they are always looking for story ideas from staff, as well as contributing writers.
Since Chrissie Bell is now off Staff Council and she was the Chair of the Personnel Policy Committee, Sandy Bycenski will be Acting Chair until the committee is able to meet and elect a chair.
The Steering Committee will meet on Thursday, June 28th, at 10:30 a.m. at Garrison Hall.
