2013-14 Other Program Related Fees and Charges

Application Fee - $60
The application fee helps defray the cost of administrative review of applications and is due at the time of application.
Enrollment Deposit - $500
Due within 2 weeks of admittance, each new student must pay an enrollment deposit which serves to reserve a place in the class. It is applied to the student account as a credit towards the first bill-payment period tuition charges. It is not refunded to a student who withdraws (including an admitted student who does not attend).
Health Insurance - $1,691 Annual (Sept thru Aug enrollment), July bill; $422.75 Entering Summer (June thru Aug enrollment), April bill
Massachusetts requires that all full-time and part-time students are covered by a health insurance plan. The Smith health insurance plan is provided by Gallagher Koster. Each student is automatically enrolled and billed each enrollment period. Students may waive this enrollment through the waiver process.
Room & Board - $3,910 (full time 10 weeks), $1,885 (final summer 5 weeks); April bill
On Campus housing during the June to August academic sessions is available as single rooms in co-ed or single-sex dormitories. The school regrets that we do not offer housing to accommodate animals. Limited off-campus housing is available through private arrangement. During the field work internship sessions, housing arrangements must be made by students and these costs vary by region.
Meal Plans - Options $87.50 ; $175; $350, April bill
Students who live off campus during the summer sessions may purchase optional meal plans for campus dining.
PhD Dissertation Filing Fee - $300; billed at end of semester after approval
Fee for costs associated with hearing a dissertation defense
Post-Resident Continuing Enrollment Fee - $500 ea. Winter Term 1, April bill & Winter Term 2, November bill
Continued enrollment fee for students who have completed their course work but are still working to complete their thesis (MSW).
Late Check-In Fee - $125
Fee to students who do not attend the mandatory Central Check-in day at the start of the summer academic session.
Additional Field Placement Fee - $300
Fee for administrative work that is associated with establishing an additional field placement.
