Post-M.S.W. Fellowship in Clinical Social Work at UC Berkeley

The University Health Services at the University of California, Berkeley has announced their post-M.S.W. Fellowship for 2011-12. They are seeking 2 qualified applicants for this joint Fellowship in the Counseling and Psychological Services and Social Services units.

The Post-M.S.W. fellowship program is committed to providing a comprehensive training experience to support and facilitate the fellow's growth and development as a professional social worker. This program includes intensive supervision, didactic training seminars, mentorship, and a broad range of clinical, consultation and outreach experience.

QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants must have completed a Master's degree in Social Work prior to August 1, 2011 from an accredited training institution. Two years or more of supervised social work experience including direct clinical counseling experience is required.

APPOINTMENTS: The fellowshop is full time for 12 months beginning late August 2011. The stipend for the internship is $26,500. Medical insurance, vacation, sick leave, and professional development time are provided. Applications are due February 22, 2011.

Special Scheduling Needs - 2nd Summer Students - NEW

We understand that childcare, commuting, and part-time work can add stress to your very full academic schedule. If you have special circumstances that you would like us to consider while scheduling your required courses (the registration for which takes place prior to BannerWeb elective registration), please submit your request to the Office of Academic Support Services (sswoas@smith.edu or fax, 413/585-7994).  Such requests must arrive at OAS by 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 24, 2010, in order to be considered.

Waiving 330 - Second Summer Students - NEW

Students interested in waiving course 330, Child Development from Infancy to Adolescence in its Social Context, and taking 333, Developmental Deviations in Childhood and Adolescence, should consult the website and meet the February 18 deadline. If you have questions after reading the information on the website, please contact sswoas@smith.edu.

Registration Information for 2nd and 3rd Summer Students - NEW

Check your mail for a postcard announcing BannerWeb registration in March. Complete information will soon be available on the SSW website and February SSW Bulletin.

331 - Comparative Psychodynamic Theories, Advanced Section - NEW

Any student who wishes to be in an advanced section of 331, Comparative Psychodynamic Theories for Clinical Social Work Practice, must take and pass an exam that consists of reading a case provided by the instructor and analyzing it according to drive, ego and object.

The deadline for indicating your interest in taking the exam is January 14, 2011. If a critical mass of students expresses interest, the exam will be mailed to those students on January 18. The exam must be returned to the registrar by January 28.

If there are enough eligible students to constitute a section, those who pass the exam will be notified. Placement in this section will have potential impact on your ability to schedule other courses.

Reminder about Mailings and Timelines from Financial Aid Office

Student bills are sent out monthly with the exception of May and August. (In May students are in transit and getting ready to come to SSW. In August, students are relocating to their field sites and addresses are being updated during this time.)

THESIS INFORMATION

Interim Thesis Deadlines for the Class of 2011

January 28, 2011 is the deadline for the submission of the HSR application. Data collection should ideally be completed by the end of March. These interim deadlines were added in the spirit of keeping the work moving forward.
