MASTER'S PROGRAM, WINTER
Section 300:  Field Work and Community Project

Field Work

Field Work (courses 200, 400) carries academic credit, with grades assigned on a Pass/Fail basis. Credit is granted only if the entire field placement period is completed satisfactorily. No partial credit is granted. Students are expected to abide by the procedures outlined in the Guidelines for the Field Practice Period, published annually for addition to this Handbook.

A student's field work performance is subject to an ongoing and shared assessment by the student's agency supervisor and faculty field work advisor, as outlined in the Guidelines for the Field Practice Period.

Successful completion of each field placement period (Session II or IV) is a prerequisite to enrollment in the subsequent summer academic session (Session III or V).

As no provision can be made in the program to repeat a field placement period that is failed, a student who receives a failing grade in field work will be dismissed from the School.

Community Project (See also Field Work Guidelines)

The Community Practice Project (course 220) carries academic credit with grades assigned on a Pass/Marginal Pass/Fail basis. The general criteria for these grades are determined by the Joint Committees on the Curriculum. The Community Practice Project must be completed in session II; students who do not successfully complete their projects in session II will not be permitted to register for second summer classes until they have done so. A student must receive a passing grade for the Community Project in order to graduate.
