When a student's performance
is viewed by the Consultation Committee as a predictor of
potential problems in the field, Consultation may result in
a decision to have the student's work monitored over the course
of the field experience. Such monitoring allows for a smooth
and careful transition for the student from academic work
to the field. When the Consultation Committee determines that
a student's academic performance necessitates monitoring,
the Director of Field Work will put this information in writing
to the student. A copy of the letter will be shared with the
agency to ensure that the student's clinical learning can
be carefully planned. The Faculty Field Advisor assigned to
the student's agency will be sent a copy of the letter.
The student will be notified in writing with regard to whether
or not his or her work will require ongoing monitoring by
the Committee. Since monitoring implies the potential for
problems in the field, the student's performance in the field
will fall under the procedures governing Review of a Student's
Field Work Performance. Appearance before the Committee by
the student, Faculty Field Advisor, or supervisor during the
monitoring period is necessary ONLY if any of these parties
request it. Written statements detailing the student's performance
as satisfactory will not warrant the presence of the Faculty
Field Advisor, supervisor, or student.
