Hello,
Congratulations to the entire student body for getting through week one of our second term!
As the new Executive Four (E4), we would like to introduce ourselves to the entire student body. Many have asked who we are and what are our roles and responsibilities as part of the executive committee of student org. We encourage this transparency and are looking forward to communicating with the SSW community surrounding these discussions, among others.
We will be holding weekly lunch meetups on Thursdays* from 12:40 p.m. to 1:15 p.m. at the King/Scales Courtyard to continue these conversations. This Thursday, July 23 will be our first meetup. Please feel free to bring your lunch as we fellowship together. These meetups are open to the entire student body.
*There will be no meetup on Thursday, July 30
We look forward to getting to know you in the upcoming year.

In July all SSW students who are not graduating or going into post-residency will be automatically enrolled and billed $2,004 for the School's health insurance plan in order to ensure compliance with Massachusetts' mandate on health insurance coverage for all full-time students. This is for coverage from September 1, 2015 - August 31, 2016.
Students who wish to waive out of the School's plan must do so by August 7th by going online to www.gallagherstudent.com/SmithSSW and follow the instructions on the website. Please contact Michele Bala at mbala@smith.edu with any questions or concerns.
If you need to cancel to your appointments with us, please do so using WCOnline. Just click on your appointment and hit the cancel button at the bottom of the appointment form. This will free the space up for another writer. Thank you!

A reminder that SSW students are allowed three free individual sessions during the academic summer session at the new Schacht Center. These sessions provide students with an opportunity to explore concerns and problems with a professional psychotherapist in a confidential setting. Referral services to local Northampton providers are also available.

The deadline for ordering regalia from University Cap and Gown is July 10, 2015. (The vendor cannot guarantee availability on orders received after July 10th; additional shipping fees may apply.)
In an effort to keep costs low, all regalia will be rented; Master's regalia rental costs are $50.00 for the entire outfit (cap, tassel, hood and gown). Those yet to complete degree requirements will wear the same cap and gown without a hood. Students will be able to keep their academic hood and tassel.
To rent regalia, please visit the link below. You may pay when you pick up your outfit at the Grecourt Bookshop between Monday, August 3rd and Friday, August 7th. Bookshop hours are Mon - Fri, 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Rentals must be returned to Grecourt within one week of graduation; there will be boxes for this purpose at several locations for your convenience.

On July 26, 2015, the School for Social Work issued a statement in recognition of the 25th anniversary of the ADA.
"At the School for Social Work, our faculty and staff are committed to working toward greater access in our educational programs. This approach means that fewer students would need to register for classroom accommodations in order to participate fully because, to the greatest extent possible, accessibility would be built into the program. By reducing ableism in how we provide access, we aim to create an educational community in which all participants feel valued."
