If you haven't heard about the National Association of Social Workers (NASW), you will, as the summer progresses. It is the one organization which advocates for our clients and us as social workers. There are over 130,000 NASW members across the U.S.
When you join as a student, your membership fee is $48. After you graduate, you pay an increased but still reduced rate for two years. Regular membership is $190/year, so joining as a student is quite a bargain!
What if you do not plan to stay in Massachusetts? This is not a problem. When you join, you can pick which state chapter you want to join, as there is a Chapter in each state and U.S. Territory.
If you have any questions, you can contact our Western Mass. Coordinator, Jeff Schrenzel, at jschrenz@wne.edu.
We hope you become a member this summer! To join, follow the link below.

The Phase 1 Lane Rehabilitation of College Lane began the week of June 8th and will continue through early August. Plans call for repaving and storm sewer replacement on lower College Lane this summer. Access will be maintained to the Ainsworth Gym west parking lot, but the parking lot east of the indoor track will be closed for materials to be staged.
Remaining work is scheduled as follows:
Weeks of July 27th - Installation of added granite curbing and speed tables.
August 1st - Top course paving. College Lane from the Conference Center to West Street will be completely closed for all or part of the day. Through traffic from Elm Street to Green Street will be limited early Saturday morning while that section is being paved.
Week of August 3rd - Striping and signs.
Portions of lower College Lane will be closed for periods of time between July 20th and August 7th to facilitate construction. Access to the Ainsworth Lot should be primarily from the north. Lower College Lane closure for one day will be required on August 1st to allow for top course paving.
