Hello MSW Interns,
I hope your internship experiences are meeting your expectations!
For those of you who dont know me yet, my name is Brya Barboza. I am a second year MSW student, and I have just become the NASW-MA Student Ambassador for the 2014/2015. For MSW students, what that means is that now, there is a shorter way for you to get information around resources necessary for your educational development. It also means, that I will do my very best to keep you updated on the many issues that can affect us, either directly or indirectly, as we work for the betterment of our society. I will also keep you update on ongoing trainings around this area. So, please, dont hesitate to contact me, if you have any question, is in need information around certain resources, or just want to chat. I would love to hear about your year.

Smith College will be closed Tuesday, January 27. Classes will not be held. All events are cancelled. Administrative offices and all buildings (including athletic facilities) will be closed. SSW offices will be closed.
A snow parking ban is in effect on campus from Monday 1/26 at 6pm until Wednesday 1/28 at 6pm.

University Health Services at the University of California, Berkeley, is offering a post-MSW Fellowship for 2015-2016. Two qualified applicants are sought for this joint fellowship in the UHS Counseling and Psychological Services and Social Services units. Applications are due by February 13, 2015.
Qualifications
Applicants must have completed a Master's degree in Social Work prior to June 30, 2015 from an accredited training institution. Two years or more of supervised social work experience including direct clinical counseling experience is required. Candidates with demonstrated interest and experience in working with multicultural populations are preferred.
Appointments
The fellowship is full time for twelve months beginning July 27, 2015. The stipend for the internship is $26,500. Medical insurance, vacation, sick leave, and professional development time are provided.

NAADAC, The Association for Addiction Professionals, has been awarded the Now is the Time: Minority Fellowship Program for Addictions Counselors which will provide tuition stipends up to $20,000 for Master's Level students in the final year of an accredited Master's program in addiction substance abuse counseling with a demonstrated commitment to working with underserved and minority populations and transition age youth (ages 16-25).
This marks an important achievement as it is the first time that the fellowship program has been extended to Addiction Counselors. It is a defining step in marking Addiction Counseling as a separate and distinct profession with specialized competencies, knowledge, skills and attitudes. NAADAC has been awarded $800,000 per year for four years for a total of $3.2M. The Minority Fellowship Program for Addiction Counselors (NMFP-AC) will increase the number of culturally-competent Master's level addiction counselors available to underserved and minority populations and transition age youth (ages 16-25) by providing tuition stipends, training, education and professional guidance to students in the final year of an accredited Master's program in addiction/substance abuse counseling with a demonstrated commitment to working with these groups.
