Sarah Beller and Nick Collura will present their MSW theses, which both draw on intersubjective theory. The discussion will be moderated by Kristin L. Evans, LCSW. Sarah will explore what it means to be paid to "care" in a capitalist economy; her thesis is entitled "Who Cares?: Psychotherapy as Care Work, Explored through Socialist Feminist and Relational Perspectives." Nick's is entitled "Alone with the Other: Paradoxes of Shame and Recognition in Psychoanalytic theory, case material, and Home Alone." He will explore the relationship between shame and recognition through psychoanalytic theory and phenomenology, and use young Kevin McCallister as his case study.
