Chair of the Annual Fund, 2006-2009
One of the central missions of the Alumni Association is to be supportive of the School for Social Work and one of the main vehicles of that support is the Association's Annual Fund.
The majority of funds donated to the Annual Fund directly support students.
Smith College School for Social Work Annual Fund, the Alumni Association’s annual giving program, is designed to cultivate, solicit, and recognize alumni, friends, faculty, students and staff. All solicitations and programs aim to increase donor participation and dollars raised. Of the dollars raised:
- 89% of the funds go directly to student financial aid,
- 9% is used for alumni/student programming (i.e. Alumni Student Network, student thesis awards and dissertation grants, alumni awards and papers), and
- less than 2% of the funds raised are used for administrative support.
Over the past 90 years, thousands of students have received scholarship aid from the Smith College School for Social Work. What better way to say “Thank you” than by returning that favor with a gift to a scholarship fund to help one of today’s students? The School for Social Work is a leader in clinical education. Your gift helps the School maintain that position.
The average debt carried by today’s Smith College School for Social Work graduate is over $40,000. This year, over 350 students will attend the program and close to 80% will apply for aid. The Alumni Association would like to see each student’s dream of a career in social work become a reality. With your help, this is possible.
