Opportunities to Enhance Excellence in Clinical Social Work Education by Promoting Dean Carolyn Jacobs' Vision of Stability and Transformation
"When I started working for the School for Social Work in 1999, I was secure enough about my own values and ambitions to know that I would only accept a position at an academic institution doing work that coincided with my desire to be in service to others and to better their lives. At that time, I was working mostly with the Alumni Association and the Executive Committee, with responsibility for the Annual Fund. Many alumni also know me through Continuing Education programming as that was also a piece of my work for many years.
In 2006, I accepted the challenge of adding advancement endeavors to my responsibilities and was promoted to Director of Advancement and Alumni Affairs. This change has given me an even greater ability to pursue my original goal of being able to be in service to others. By encouraging alumni, friends, faculty and administrators to support the School, I can help one of the best clinical social work educational institutions continue to attract top students and produce highly skilled therapists.
I take very seriously the work I do and particularly the future of this profession. As the School enters its 90th year of educating and training clinical social workers, please seriously consider how you might be able to make a special contribution in honor of this achievement and as a vote of confidence about the future of Smith College School for Social Work." - Roxanne Pin, Director of Advancement & Alumni Affairs.
