Tuition & Fees
Upon acceptance, students must submit a $500 tuition deposit to reserve their place in the entering class; this non-refundable fee is applied to tuition.
The Trustees of Smith College reserve the right to establish fees annually. New fees are established in January for each academic year.
27-Month Program (2013-14)
Housing
Housing during the June to August academic sessions is available on campus in co-ed or single-sex dormitories. Limited off-campus housing is available through private arrangement. The school regrets that we do not offer housing to accommodate animals. During the field work internship sessions, housing arrangements must be made by students; costs vary by region.
Other Expenses
Other expenses students should anticipate include transportation from the school to the field work internship assignments, rent, food, utilities and medical insurance. Miscellaneous fees, books and supplies average approximately $2,000 annually.
In estimating total expenses for the second field internships, students should additionally anticipate the expenses of data collection, manuscript preparation and copying of the research project.
Health Insurance
Health insurance is mandatory in Massachusetts (G.L. c.15A, § 18), for all full-time students. Students are advised to consider enrolling in the school's health insurance plan. Students who elect not to enroll in the school's plan must have coverage under another plan that meets the requirements of the Qualifying Student Health Insurance Plan, of Massachusetts. Students, who have their own coverage, must provide the school with the following information: name and address of their insurance company, policy number and a copy of the policy for verification.
