Areas of Current Research

Dr. Kang is currently working on several projects involving immigrant communities:  a collaborative project which compares Asian and Latino immigrants in their social and economic histories and trajectories; a community capacity survey of Korean American community-based organizations providing social services to Korean Americans in the New York/New Jersey area; and a historical analysis of U.S. immigration policies and their impact on constructing racialized citizens.  She is also working on a project that studies the meaning of community in social work practice.
