Academic Resources

The Smith campus is a beautiful natural setting, but our academic environment is equally impressive.

From cuneiform tablets to electronic books, from the papers of Sylvia Plath to full Internet access, the Smith College Libraries offer a vast array of resources that rival many universities. The collections of 1.4 million items include books, periodicals, scores, videotapes, videodiscs, recordings, maps, rare books, electronic journals and databases, and much more.

Information Technology Services (ITS) provides academic and administrative computing resources to the college.

Smith College's renowned Museum of Art, art library and art department have a distinguished new home in the Brown Fine Arts Center.

The Jacobson Center for Writing, Teaching and Learning helps students develop academic skills. Students at all levels work with the center’s writing counselors to improve drafts of their papers.

The Botanic Garden of Smith College encompasses the college’s 125-acre campus, including a variety of specialty gardens and the Lyman Plant House, our 12,000 square-foot glass conservatory.

The Grécourt Bookshop, located in the Campus Center, carries required texts for Smith courses, a selection of general books, stationery supplies, imprinted clothing and gifts.

The Sophia Smith Collection is an internationally recognized repository of manuscripts, photographs, periodicals and other primary sources in women's history.
