HOUSING

Living at the School for Social Work

During the 10 week summer session, the School for Social Work offers on-campus housing in co-ed or single sex dormitories to students who choose to live on campus. The cost of on-campus room and board for the 205 summer session will be $2,708. Limited off-campus housing is available through private arrangement. During the field work internship sessions, housing arrangements must be made by the students; costs vary by region. (The School regrets that we do not offer housing to accomodate animals.)

For students choosing to live on-campus, the dormitory houses are designated each summer and are located mostly in the center of campus. The houses range in size from 43 - 80 students per house. Each floor of the dorms has community bathrooms, which are shared by the occupants on the floor. The rooms are equipped with a single bed, bureau, desk, and chair. Each room is wired for internet access, and each has a telephone with long distance and voicemail capability.

Family Housing

During the 10 week summer session, the School for Social Work is able to use Friedman Complex A & C. These complexes allow us to offer some housing for students with children. Each complex has two apartments in each, with four bedrooms in each apartment; there are four twin beds, one in each bedroom. They also have a living room with couch and chairs; a dining area with table and chairs; a bathroom; and a kitchen, with stove and refigerator.

Smoking and pets are forbidden in all college dorms.

Dining

The School for Social Work uses one main dining room during the summer, which is centrally located to the housing dorms. All menus are prepared by staff employed by the college. All students who choose to live on campus, except those in Family Housing, are on the full board plan, which entitles them to breakfast, lunch, and dinner, 7 days a week.

All meals are served buffet-style to accommodate the busy schedules of students. A salad bar is always available at lunch and dinner. The college dining staff will make every effort to accommodate special dietary needs when possible.
