Thesis

A unique aspect of Smith's curriculum is the completion of a thesis. This project serves as an important vehicle for the integration of learning from the program and for the consolidation of the student's identity as a social work professional; the thesis often provides a foundation of individual expertise after graduation.

Timeline

BSW advanced standing students follow a 19-, rather than a 27-month program, therefore the timeline for advanced standing thesis project is different. BSW advanced standing students follow the same timeline as the 27-month students until the May 14 deadline. At that time, BSW advanced standing students must have completed the data collection phase of the thesis project. Research advising then resumes the following September.

The thesis project and the dissemination requirement must be completed, approved and submitted by Friday, December 4.
