How much do they cost and how do I pay?
Courses vary in price depending on length from $20 for a .5 hour course to $80 for a 5.5-hour course. There is also a non-refundable $5 registration processing fee.

Currently you can pay for courses by MasterCard or Visa through our secure online credit card processing.

How much time do I have to complete the course?
You will have 30 days from the date you receive your username and password for Moodle (our electronic classroom) to complete the course.

Do classes happen in real time?
Classes are not offered in "real time;" you may enter the electronic classroom and listen to/watch your course in any number of sittings if you prefer. However, you must complete the course and submit the evaluation within 30 days of receiving your username and password.

Do I have to watch/listen to the course all at once?
You may enter the electronic classroom and listen to/watch your course in any number of sittings. Longer courses are broken into several sections and all courses have media controls which allow you to play, pause, and review material.

Will I be able to access my course as soon as I register?
Not at this time.
You will receive your username and password within five business days of registration.

How do I get CE credits? How long until I get them? Continuing Education (CE) credits will be automatically sent to you by email within a month of completing your course and submitting the course evaluation form.

What if my agency will pay for this class -- how do I arrange payment or reimbursement?
As mentioned above, we are currently only accepting payment by MasterCard or Visa. If your agency does not have a credit card you can use, we suggest you pay using your personal card and ask your agency to reimburse you.

Is there any limit on how many classes I can take?
While there is no limit on the number of classes you may take, please note that the time you have available to complete the course is limited to 30 days from receipt of your username. If your time is limited, it might be preferable to register for a new course after you have completed the first course.

Is there any discount if I take more than one course?
As online courses are being offered at a discount tuition rate, no additional discounts are available.

Is there a Field Affiliate discount?
As online courses are being offered at a discount tuition rate, no additional discounts are available.

Are courses available any time or only offered on specific dates?
Registraton will be open for this set of courses only until the end of March. You have 30 days from receipt of your username and password to complete each course.

Are the courses audio only or audio/video?
All courses are accessible to you in audio format and some are available both in audio and video. Once you enter our electronic classroom you will see which options are available for the course you selected and you may choose the format that best meets your needs.
Note: if the video is not displaying in your browser, try updating it to the latest version or using a different browser.

Can I download an audio podcast and listen to it in my car or on my iPod?
Because course content is the academic property of Smith College School for Social Work, you are unable to download the course as a podcast. While our audio and video are compatible with most computer operating systems, they are not enabled to play on iPads, iPods, or iPhones.

Can I watch or listen to my courses on my iPad/iPod/iPhone?
While our audio and video are compatible with most computer operating systems, they are not enabled to play on iPads, iPods, or iPhones.

Do I complete an evaluation after the course and if so, how do I submit it?
One of the requirements for receiving CEUs is that you complete the evaluation form. The evaluation form is available online through our electronic classroom, Moodle. You can fill it out and submit it online once you have completed your coursework.

What is your refund policy?
If for some reason you opt to not begin the online course for which you have registered, please email your refund request to: sswced@smith.edu. Refund requests will only be honored if no attempt has been made to enter the electronic classroom; once a student logs into the electronic classroom, whether they begin the course or not, we are unable to honor the refund request.

What if I want to ask the instructor a question?
All of our course material is recorded from past lectures and seminars, so the instructors are not currently available to answer questions. However, many of our instructors participate regularly in our on-campus Summer Seminar Series, so you might very well have an opportunity to take a class with them in person next summer.
