The Smith College School for Social Work Alumni Association promotes the well being of the School by serving as a liaison between alumni and the larger School community. The Association represents the interests of alumni and fosters their continued support of and involvement in School activities and direction. The Alumni Association supports the School's strong historical commitments to diversity and anti-racism, while particularly valuing the field of psychodynamically oriented social work practice. The Alumni Association supports the School in its commitment to its anti-racism policy. We adopt its principals as our own and remain dedicated in fighting racism and all other (often insidious) forms of oppression in all of our activities from the national to the local level.
The purpose of the organization is to further the well-being of Smith College School for Social Work. Its functions are to offer advice and counsel to the School; to promote the highest standards of social work education and practice; to cooperate with the School in raising monies to support its various activities; to provide one of the channels of communication between the alumni, the School and the undergraduate college; to assist students during their field placements; and to forward the continuing education of the alumni in partnership with the School.
As one of its main goals, the Alumni Association Annual Fund has a participation initiative with the hopes of increasing alumni involvement through its campaign, Counting on Alumni.
