Spanish Colonial Cathedral, Puebla, Mexico
Program
for Mexican Culture and Society in Puebla
This program has been established through a Consortium consisting of Oberlin, Smith, Wellesley and Wheaton Colleges in order to offer qualified students direct enrollment in one of Mexico's leading public and research universities, the Benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Puebla (BUAP). During the Colonial period, Puebla rivaled Mexico City in the importance of its art and architecture, a heritage that it proudly upholds today. The University offers degrees in 55 subjects ranging from the Humanities and Social Sciences to law and medicine.
Students will be housed with local families, including all meals and laundry facilities. There are excursions to Mexico City and Oaxaca, as well as to local sites. Students may study in Puebla for one semester, fall or spring, or for the full academic year.
The application deadline to study abroad in Spring 2009 is November 3, 2008.
The application deadline to study abroad in Fall 2009 or in the 2009-2010 Academic Year is February 15, 2009.
For more information, contact Patricia Gonzalez or Hugo Viera from Smith College, or visit the BUAP
