New Play Reading Series: Seeing Read December 12-13 | 7:30 pm The Theatre Department and the African-American Studies Department present Seeing Read: A One Woman Show by Susanna Apgar, Directed by Jonathan Epstein. Through her creative honors thesis, Apgar seeks to dissect the concept and action of identity, particularly as it pertains to race and gender. In the performance she looks at how birth, death, love, violence, and perhaps even cell division rely on similar principles, or else the failure of similar "principles," where we're left with an exchange of mere ideas. The play is not suitable for children and contains subjects such as death, rape and castration. Thursday's reading will be followed by a Q & A. Advisers to the project are Professors Kevin E. Quashie and Andrea Hairston. Free and open to the public.
