Throughout history, musicians have had a enormous impact on political movements; vocalist Laila Plamondon, pianist Jerry Noble, clarinetist Bob Sparkman and bassist Genevieve Rose will perform pieces focusing on racism and feminism. The pieces were made famous by female jazz vocalists from the 1920s to the present, such as Ma Rainey, Billie Holiday, Betty Carter and Erykah Badu. |
