2008-2009 Annual Appeal

Each year the PTO Development Committee organizes the Annual Appeal which raises funds for enrichment and financial aid at the Campus School. The funds raised through the Annual Appeal are often what allow us to go beyond the basics and provide materials and experiences that further enrich and extend the students' education and make a wider range of professional development available to teachers. Funds raised through the Annual Appeal continue to be important to our efforts to make the Campus School available to a broader range of families. While the PTO supports the School in numerous ways, the Annual Appeal is the only PTO fund raising effort that directly supports enrichment and financial aid.

Greetings

At the Smith College Campus School, no season permeates like autumn. The kindergarteners’ year begins with the study of the monarch butterfly life cycle and spending time in the garden where they harvest seasonal bounty before putting the garden to bed. Pumpkin study follows, along with preparation for Halloween. The entire school transforms on Halloween, students and teachers alike morphing into character. Well before the annual Thanksgiving assembly, students have ventured to nature reserves, ponds and rivers, begun community service projects and contemplated important matters of our times.

Whether your connection to the school is with a chrysalis taking in all the school has to offer or a monarch fluttering through wider skies, you know that year in and year out, SCCS provides fortifying educational experiences that allow its students to soar. Like nurturing a garden, a lot of effort is required, and this is where we ask for your help: please consider a gift to the Annual Fund.

The monies raised provide essential support towards scholarships, classroom enrichment and teacher development. Our goal remains to increase participation in the Annual Fund; we hover around 50% and would like to see a rise to about 70%. Your participation matters a great deal.

To those who help us each year – current families and former ones, teachers, former staff alike – many thanks. To those of you considering a first gift, know that your support helps us help a broader range of families come to SCCS and teachers do that much more in their classrooms.

As always, we thank you for helping ensure SCCS is such a special place.

Sincerely,
