HOUSING - ALBRIGHT HOUSE

Albright House is located on Bedford Terrace, right next to the Alumnae House. It was built in 1900.

It is only a half-block away from a pharmacy and grocery store, where you can find anything from magic markers to ramen noodles. Walking one more block, students are in the center of town where they can have a cup of coffee at the Haymarket, or an ice cream cone at Herrell's.

The attractive red brick building has a front porch, where students like to lounge on warm days. Its residents are active participants in many Smith traditions, including Faculty Tea, the annual Senior Banquet, and the Big Sister/Little Sister program. Albright House also has its own annual events, such as the "No Talent" Show, in which members of the house display their "talents." Performances have included palm reading, tunes on the nose flute and a reading of French poetry. The house also started two new traditions: an annual bowling competition with Baldwin House and a 1920s Casino Night theme for Spring Weekend, complete with poker, blackjack, craps and theme music.
