150 ELM STREET

150 Elm was built in the late 1800s and became a property of Smith College at the school's founding. In 1917, 150 Elm was opened as a campus house used as first semester overflow housing for first years. It houses 12 Ada Comstock Scholars in single rooms. The house was completely renovated in the summer of 1997. Renovations included new bathrooms, new fixtures, carpet in the public areas and hallways, remodeled kitchenette and a handicapped accessible room. The house is handicapped accessible on the first floor and has a public accessible bathroom. The house is completely wired for CyberSmith, a computer network that enables students to connect right from their own room to Smith servers and the Internet and to access numerous computer research tools and other services.
